2012 is off to a crazy start. I don't even know where January flew off to. February has gotten crazy.
Saturday night, while over at ABBA's for a 'hood dinner party, I got a call that there was an offer made on The Palace. We did some back-and-forth negotiating, and apparently the potential buyers were anxious to get it wrapped up. I got the contract at about midnight. Closing date is March 1st. It is contingent on their house sale being completed on February 29th.
This kicked me into high gear on finding a place to move. As an emotional survival skill, I have taught myself to expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised when it turns out better. I had completely stopped the planner in me from finding a place to live and planning a move, on the assumption that it could take awhile for the house to sell. I told myself that if/when it did, I would have 30-40 days before closing to get moving. Well.... I ended up with 25 days + the realization that I need to get the heck outta here faster so that Chris can schedule to get all of his stuff out, too.
I made a round of apartment visits on Sunday and ended up feeling pretty good about one. Best part is that it is available ASAP. Second best part is that it is on the first floor, so when the weather is bad I can just drop the dogs over the side of the patio ;) Only when the weather is bad, though.... not just when I'm lazy (always).
I'm hoping to get in there today to measure everything and firm up the moving plans. My 2012MovePlan.xlsx has me measuring, packing, securing movers and storage spot today. Saturday I hope to get the furniture moved over and maybe Monday to get clothes/bathroom/kitchen stuff moved over. There are, you know, like 45 more lines of stuff to do, but I won't bore you with the details. Trust that it is there ;)
#1 question I get asked is if I am moving into some glamorous condo uptown. Heck, no. This is 100% a transitional move for me while I figure out what is next. The lease is 6 months, the square footage is small, and I am looking forward to it. After having spent the past year (nearly) dealing with way too much space and anxiety and financial calculating, I am so ready to simplify and minimize.
Plus, I have Margo coming to visit next month, and I know she will turn it into something amazing :) xoxo
